Rooms 122- 124 \nPreserving Family Traditions and Stories: “Steps of Our Ancestors” \nPlease join Historian and Researcher\, Yvette Cohn Stoor\, an American Folklife Center Community Collections Grant recipient\, for her work documenting unique New Mexican traditions\, creating a permanent record of how the rich and vibrant communities are honoring their past and celebrating their present. Her work for the Library of Congress American Folklife Center produced a documentary highlighting passed down traditions from small town New Mexico Villages\, “Steps of Our Ancestors.” \n“Steps of Our Ancestors” is a documentary that follows community historians and descendants in rural New Mexico as they preserve and revive centuries-old ritual dances-such as the Danza de Los Matachines\, Los Comanchitos and Los Comanches traditions-revealing how faith\, history\, and identity continue to shape village life while safeguarding cultural traditions at risk of being forgotten. \nMs. Stoor will share tips on documentation/research.  She serves on various Genealogical societies boards\, currently on “La Merced de Canon de Carnue.” July 2026\, she will present her project at the International Symposium for Music Education in Montreal\, Canada. \nFree Community Event\, no advance registration required. \nHispanic Genealogical Research Center of New Mexico\nPO Box 24250\nAlbuquerque\, NM 87125\n505-833-4197\nHGRC-NM\, Hispanic Genealogical Research Center of New Mexico

Designed to inspire creativity\, foster cultural appreciation\, and build community\, each workshop will offer an inclusive and welcoming space where participants of all ages and backgrounds can come together to explore and celebrate culture through artistic expression\, movement\, and traditions in an engaging\, fun\, and educational environment! \nPlease pre-register so we know how many materials to prepare.
