Mundos de Mestizaje: Torreón Tour
NHCC Torreón 1701 4th street SW, Albuquerque, NM, United States11:00 am (MST) The National Hispanic Cultural Center is offering a guided tour of the Mundos de Mestizaje fresco created by artist Frederico Vigil. Tours of the fresco are offered Thursdays and Fridays at 11am. Located in the Torreón on the NHCC Campus, Mundos de Mestizaje depicts thousands of years of Hispanic culture, history, and identity. Admission for the tour is $2 and tickets are available for advance purchase below. Tickets can also be purchased in the New Mexico Mutual Welcome Center, depending on availability. Early Childhood Bilingual Storytime: The Very Hungry Caterpillar/La Oruga Muy Hambrienta
NHCC-Newsletter-August-26–September-710:00 am Head to the Center for our next Early Childhood Bilingual Storytime, featuring The Very Hungry Caterpillar/La Oruga Muy Hambrienta, by Eric Carle! This much-loved children's book tells the story of a tiny caterpillar who is born hungry and eats everything in sight over the course of a week. Free community event. For children ages 3 to 5 and caregivers. Please register below or call the NHCC Welcome Center at 505-724-4771 for assistance. This program is generously supported by Bank of Albuquerque.
Siempre Creativo: Printmaking Workshops for Seniors
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM1:30 pm – 4:00 pm Please join us for 3 consecutive weeks exploring a variety of printmaking processes with artist Carol Sanchez. We will look for creative inspiration in the NHCC Art Museum printmaking exhibition, Nexo Entre Raíces, and experiment with a different printmaking technique in the Education Building. Please wear comfortable shoes for exploring the art museum. Participating seniors may sign up for one, two, or three workshops. A collaborative project between Alyshia Bustos and Leah Buechley from UNM's Department of Computer Science, artist Nanibah Chacon, Student Artists from Working Classroom, and the NHCC Art Museum, the Interactive Mural creates shifting soundscapes in response to touch. Voces de Latinidad: Community Session featuring Antoinette Rael

Colcha Community Stitch A-long
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM9:30 am (MST) on the 4th Tuesday of each month Our Colcha community Workshop is open to all levels of experience in an informal setting. This workshop is instructed by Annette Gutierrez-Turk. Annette has taught this art form to groups internationally and at the NHCC for many years. She is also an award-winning artist, most recently recognized in 2019 at Santa Fe Spanish Market. Annette will demonstrate as well as answer questions.
