Premiere: Bless Me, Ultima Radio Broadcast

11 am On Albuquerque’s Classical 95.5 KHFM and 98.7 WFMT-FM in Chicago A live national broadcast of the world premiere performance of the opera Bless Me, Ultima, on Albuquerque’s Classical 95.5 KHFM and 98.7 WFMT-FM in Chicago, hosted by Valerie Martinez. Opera Southwest, along with the National Hispanic Cultural Center and San Jose’s Opera Cultura, is thrilled to have commissioned this work based on Rudolfo Anaya’s best-selling novel. US Postal Service Release of Our Lady of Guápulo Stamp

9:30 am (MTS) A virtual first day of issue ceremony held on the Postal Service’s Facebook and Twitter pages: usps.com/guapulo, facebook.com/USPS, and twitter.com/USPS The United States Postal Service is partnering with the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) on the release of the Our Lady of Guápulo Christmas forever stamp. Virtual Lunch with Josefa Gonzalez Mariscal

12 pm (MTS) Live via Zoom Attendance is free with registration. Register HERE  Josefa Gonzalez Mariscal, the executive director of the NHCC, will share her leadership story in a virtual lunch hosted by the Young Professionals of Albuquerque. In May 2020, the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) named Josefa Gonzalez Mariscal the executive director of the NHCC, and she has an incredible leadership story! Make an ofrenda @home to celebrate Día de los Muertos! The National Hispanic Cultural Center remains closed, and since we can't invite you to the NHCC to celebrate Día de los Muertos, we invite you to share the names of your loved ones in the comments on our social media to create a digital remembrance. Virtual Día de los Muertos Concert: Las Flores del Valle of Albuquerque

7 pm Museum of International Folk Art Facebook page HERE Every year the NHCC holds its annual Despedida (Farewell) to celebrate Día de los Muertos with music, poetry, and hands-on art at this time-honored community gathering. Unfortunately, with the current health restrictions, this year’s Despedida is another wonderful in-person event that has been canceled. The National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) turns twenty years old in 2020 and the museum now has twenty years of exhibitions to reflect on and learn from.
