Salud y Sabor Celebrates Venezuela: Strength in Culture
Domenici Education Building - Grand Hall11:30 am to 2:00 pm Salud y Sabor is a free late morning/early afternoon of food, art, health, culture, and entertainment that celebrates our communities and connects families with nutrition, cooking, healthy lifestyles, and play. Once a month, community members gather for cooking demonstrations using fresh, locally grown ingredients, fun art and movement activities for kids and adults, health screenings, cultural exchange, and live entertainment. POSTPONED: Who We Are, Together: NM Families Project Presentation for Torres & Urioste
History and Literary Arts BuildingThis event has been postponed to a date TBD. Please check back here for further information. 2-4 pm This project engaged 2-3 generations of seven NM families in testing their DNA and researching their family lineage with the help of the NHCC and experts in the field. For seven Sundays these families will present what they learned about who they are, where they are, where they came from, and from whom they descend, followed by dialogue. NHCC Torreón 1701 4th street SW, Albuquerque, NM, United States12 pm to 5 pm A Vision of History through Fresco… Mundos de Mestizaje by Frederico Vigil is a mural housed in the Torreón on the campus of the National Hispanic Cultural Center. This monumental fresco depicts thousands of years of Hispanic history highlighting diverse cultural connections between people and places from the Iberian Peninsula to the Americas. The 4,000 square foot painting is one of the largest frescos in North America. The digitized imagery of the painting ensures that this culturally significant work can be a (more...)

No experience is necessary to participate in this class. 7:15 pm to 8:15 pm—Advanced Class In order to participate in this class, dancers must come to at least one 6 pm class and be familiar with the vocabulary and movement introduced in these classes. Domingos en Arte: Redobles de Cultura

We have invited a wide range of Latin artists for family-friendly summer Sundays that feature live music, drinks, and delicious Latin cuisine in the NHCC’s enchanting Fountain Courtyard. Redobles de Cultura is a collective of top New York City-based, next generation Afro-Puerto Rican and Afro-Caribbean bomba practitioners, cultural workers, and educators. Festival Ballet Albuquerque: Sacred Journeys II

Mirabal collaborates with internationally renowned New York City Ballet dancer Jock Soto, of Navajo and Puerto Rican descent; Soto, who is originally from Gallup, NM, and will also make guest appearances onstage, now lives in Eagle Nest, NM.
