Jugamos Juntos: ¡Vamos al Museo!

10:30 am to 12 pm The National Hispanic Cultural Center is pleased to offer free children’s programming during the summer. During June, July, and first Saturday in August, families will be able to come to the Center on Saturday mornings for hands-on art activities, bilingual sing-alongs, outdoor activities in the Bosque and explore the science of cooking on a rotating basis. The first Saturday of each month, Vamos al Museo will offer hands-on art presented by a visual artist in conjunction with a visit to the NHCC’s (more...)

Bosque Chile Festival

10 am to 7 pm A celebration of food, art, and culture on the Rio Grande, presented by Bernalillo County and the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Join in the celebration of the chile harvest with entertainment, kids’ activities, arts and crafts vendors, food trucks, beer and wine, a salsa competition, and chef demonstrations. New this year—agricultural education workshops and a green chile stew competition. ¡Salud y Sabor!: Argentina

5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Salud y Sabor, a partnership between the Agri-cultura Network, Street Food Institute, and the NHCC, is a free evening of food, art, and entertainment aimed at providing families with an opportunity to connect around nutrition, cooking, healthy lifestyles, and culture. Once a month, community members gather for cooking demonstrations using fresh, locally grown ingredients, as well as fun art activities for kids and adults, health screenings, and live entertainment. ¡Globalquerquito! – A mini-fest for Albuquerque School Kids

10 am We'd like to let you in on a little secret. Each year, ¡Globalquerque! kicks off with a free concert for our local school kids. This mini-fest features two of our regular performers doing short sets as a way to introduce the kids to some cool different cultures. This year the participating bands are Trad.Attack! 10:30 am The National Hispanic Cultural Center is pleased to offer children’s programming on the first Saturday morning of every month. This is a fun and engaging docent and artist-led family program. Families (limited to 25 participants) get a 30-minute museum tour focused on an art form, source inspiration, artist or type of material. Following the tour, the whole family can create their own artwork in the Pete V. Domenici Education Building Messy Classroom. Founded in 1967 by students at Santiago’s Universidad Técnica del Estado, Inti-Illimani has performed worldwide for hundreds of thousands of fans, collaborated with legendary artists, earned awards and honors for activism as well as musicianship, and produced one of Latin America’s richest discographies. Día de los Muertos: Despedida

5 pm to 7 pm Día de Muertos is an annual traditional holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and many Hispanic communities. Join the NHCC and experienced, knowledgeable local artists to learn about the meaning of this celebration, the traditional arts and crafts associated with the celebration and development of ofrendas that honor families and individuals. The National Hispanic Cultural Center will hold its annual Despedida to celebrate Día de los Muertos with music, poetry and hands-on art making at this time-honored community gathering.
