Public Academy for Performing Arts Presents Language of Dance: Spring Dance Concert 2016

The Public Academy for Performing Arts presents Language of Dance, its annual spring dance concert featuring beginning to pre-professional ballet, contemporary, flamenco, hip-hop, and jazz dance students from grades 6-12. Approximate length of the event is two hours. $7, $12, $17, no discounts

Aliento: State Street Ballet’s Carmen

Salud y Sabor: Bolivia
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Salud y Sabor, a partnership between the Agri-cultura Network, Street Food Institute, and the NHCC, is a free evening of food, art, and entertainment aimed at providing families with an opportunity to connect around nutrition, cooking, healthy lifestyles, and culture. Once a month, community members gather for cooking demonstrations using fresh, locally grown ingredients, as well as fun art activities for kids and adults, health screenings, and live entertainment. Roy E. Born to African parents in Mallorca, Spain, she is often compared to Nina Simone, Chavela Vargas, and Cesaria Evora. Opening Reception: Moving Forward, Looking Back: Journeys Across the Old Spanish Trail
History and Literary Arts Building6 pm to 8 pm Join artist and curator Janire Nájera for the opening of her exhibition Moving Forward, Looking Back: Journeys Across the Old Spanish Trail, which explores Spanish heritage in the United States Southwest via the Old Spanish Trail, a route that linked the colonial outposts of New Mexico and California. The exhibition is presented by the National Hispanic Cultural Center and SPAIN Arts and Culture, and supported by Wales Arts International. Families (limited to 25 participants) get a 30-minute museum tour focused on an art form, source inspiration, artist or type of material. Following the tour, the whole family can create their own artwork in the Pete V. Domenici Education Building Messy Classroom. April's guest artist will be Catalina Salinas exploring storytelling through images, inspired by our new exhibition Moving Forward, Looking Back: Journeys Along the Old Spanish Trail.
