9:30 am on the 4th Tuesday of each month Our Colcha community Workshop is open to all levels of experience in an informal setting. This workshop is instructed by Annette Gutierrez-Turk. Annette has taught this art form to groups internationally and at the NHCC for many years. She is also an award-winning artist, most recently recognized in 2019 at Santa Fe Spanish Market. Visual Arts Museum: First Sunday Free Admission

10:00 am to 4:00 pm The first Sunday of every month the Visual Arts Museum is free to all New Mexico residents. We will be closed on January 1st so we are moving our Free Sunday admission to Sunday, January 8th. During this time, visitors are encouraged to explore the NHCC’s Visual Arts Museum art exhibitions.

Día de Familia y Comunidad: Fiesta de Barelas

11:00 am – 3:00 pm Join us for arts activities and music during a day that honors the Barelas community, one of Albuquerque’s oldest neighborhoods. Visitors will have a chance to make paper architecture, maracas, and weavings. Join Chuy Martinez and other flamenco performers for sing-along presentations featuring music from the John Donald Robb New Mexico music archives. Barelas neighborhood community organizations, such as Barelas Senior Center, Barelas Community Center, Working Classroom, Los Jardines and more, will be on hand to share information about their programs. AfroMundo Festival: Resistance & Creativity: Afro-Latin Culinary Memory, Power, Resistance & Survival

The foods of Afro peoples continue to incorporate ingredients of ancestral dishes and to preserve African ways of preparing ingredients native to the Americas.
