Awaken your heart to the true Spirit of Christmas in dance\, as The Performers Ballet & Jazz Company presents the 34th season of its Bravos Award-winning holiday production\, Christmas Joy. Over fifty classically trained dancers will once again inspire audiences with a repertoire of moving and inspirational classical ballet\, jazz\, and contemporary dance performances choreographed to traditional and contemporary Christmas music. \nA moving and uplifting production\, Christmas Joy has become an Albuquerque holiday tradition. In 1999\, members of the Albuquerque Arts Alliance conferred the Bravos Award for Dance Excellence on The Performers Ballet & Jazz Company. Additionally\, in 2012\, Christmas Joy was given the Albuquerque Community Live Art and Performance Service (Q-Claps) Applause Award for favorite performance.\n$25\, $33 with a $2 discount for students\, seniors and NHCC members \n\nThe title\, content\, photos/images and description for this event were provided to the NHCC by the organization renting the NHCC venue for the event. DESCRIPTION:7 pm—Friday\, Saturday & Sunday\n2 pm—Saturday & Sunday \nFestival Ballet Albuquerque is partnering with the National Hispanic Cultural Center to present an original production\, The Nutcracker Ballet in the Land of Enchantment\, choreographed by Patricia Dickinson Wells. The beloved holiday classic is transported to territorial New Mexico in the late 1800s\, with added elements of the state’s heritage and traditions including Spanish dancers\, southwestern snakes\, sheep and shepherdesses\, a lively fandango\, a storyteller doll with children\, and lavish Victorian-era western costumes. Now in its 8th year at the NHCC\, the production showcases New Mexico heritage and traditions while maintaining the classical grace and family appeal of its origins. A live orchestra performs under the baton of Maestro Guillermo Figueroa\, former music director of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra and an internationally renowned conductor and violinist who was a 2012 Latin Grammy nominee.
