DESCRIPTION:5:30 pm to 7:30 pm \nOn the first Thursday of the month\, NHCC invites adults for artistic fun in a relaxed social setting\, which includes snacks\, refreshments\, beer & wine for sale from Pop Fizz. This month we will learn with artist\, Pamela Enriquez-Courts whose artwork is in our current exhibit\, “Qué Chola”.  She will show us how she works with patterns and floral elements. DESCRIPTION:2 pm \nThe 5th Annual South American Folk Fair seeks to unite Albuquerque’s South American community in a day of cultural experience and connection through music\, dance\, and food. The festival will feature traditional food and folkloric dances from Argentina\, Brazil\, Chile\, Colombia\, Ecuador\, Perú and Venezuela. \nHeadlining the event will be Houston-based Pachangara\, under the direction of Venezuelan percussionist Gerardo Araujo. DESCRIPTION:7 pm \n¡RESILIENCIA! The Experience of Jewish Communities in Spain and the Americas. Organized by Instituto Cervantes\,Casa Sefarad@Nahalat Shalom\, Festival Djudeo-Espanyol\, National Hispanic Cultural Center. In collaboration with Consulate of Mexico\, Red de Juderías de España\, Diputación of Lleida\, Latin American and Iberian Institute at UNM\, Consulate General of Israel in Houston\, Jewish Federation of New Mexico\, Congregation B´Nai Israel\, Congregation Albert\, ADL Mountain States Region\, New Mexico Humanities Council and Century Automotive\, a Mapfre Company. \n \nArt Exhibits: 7 pm\n“Shalom Sefarad” presents – through photos\, stories\, and songs – the legacy of Jewish immigrants who arrived in Seattle\, Washington a century ago from the Ottoman Empire to build new lives for their families. \n”Discover Sefarad” is a photo exhibit that takes you on a tour to 18 Spanish cities that preserve an outstanding Jewish essence. Presented by Marta Puig\, Manager Director of the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters. \n \n“Persecuted and saved” tells the story of thousands of Jews who crossed the Lleida Pyrenees fleeing from the persecution to which they were subject in Nazi-occupied Europe. This exhibit honors the memory of those who fled from persecution and those who helped make that possible. Presented by Dr. Josep Calvet\, curator of the exhibition and a professor of history at the University of Lleida. \n \nCocktail Reception: 8:30pm \nSpecial mention to the Latin American and Iberian Institute\, UNM\, Red de Juderías de España y la Diputación de Lleida for funding this event.\nFree event
