Mexican Independence Day Celebration in partnership with the Mexican Consul

On Sept. 12, the Center will be joined by the Consulate of Mexico providing a formal flag unveiling and the traditional Grito, a celebration announcement of independence. 5:00 - 7:00 pm Join us for a free public reception celebrating the opening of Rendered Presence: Artistas de Nuevo México. Guest curated by Vicente Telles, the exhibition explores artworks by artists living and working throughout New Mexico. Many of the artworks are figurative and created on a scale that challenges limited understandings of New Mexican art. In their own way, each artist explores identity and the self, art history, and the expanse of Hispanic, Chicana/o/x, and Latina/o/x contemporary art. Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM6:00 pm Our December 5th Happy Arte Hour will feature Artist Carol C. Sanchez and Gelli Plate/Monotype Printmaking. Gelli Plate/Monotype is a basic printmaking process in which an image is created by rolling or painting with ink or paints directly onto a plate and printed onto paper. We will be using gelli plates, which have many possibilities and can be used with a variety of media such as ink pads, watercolor and acrylic paints.
