Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Salud y Sabor, a partnership between the Agri-cultura Network, Street Food Institute, and the NHCC, is a free evening of food, art, and entertainment aimed at providing families with an opportunity to connect around nutrition, cooking, healthy lifestyles, and culture. Once a month, community members gather for cooking demonstrations using fresh, locally grown ingredients, as well as fun art activities for kids and adults, health screenings, and live entertainment. Bosque Chile Festival
NHCC Campus 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM10 am to 7 pm A celebration of food, art, and culture on the Rio Grande, presented by Bernalillo County and the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Join in the celebration of the chile harvest with entertainment, kids’ activities, arts and crafts vendors, food trucks, beer and wine, a salsa competition, and chef demonstrations. This is a great opportunity for friends to hang out, a unique date night option, or a place to come solo and connect with fellow art enthusiasts. Día de los Muertos: Despedida
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM5 pm to 7 pm Día de Muertos is an annual traditional holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and many Hispanic communities. Join the NHCC and experienced, knowledgeable local artists to learn about the meaning of this celebration, the traditional arts and crafts associated with the celebration and development of ofrendas that honor families and individuals. Opening Reception, The Art of Christmas: New Mexico Style
September-2019-Board-Meeting-Minutes5 pm to 7 pm Join us for the opening reception for the exhibition The Art of Christmas: New Mexico Style, featuring approximately 430 handmade ornaments by more than 125 New Mexican artists that have been collected by the Duran family (Matt, Jeanette, and their son Gabriel) over nearly 20 years. Matt and Jeanette began collecting Christmas ornaments in 2000 and there first tree was only 4 feet tall. Awards Ceremony: Second Cervantes Drawing and Painting Contest for New Mexico Students
NHCC-Newsletter-November-2-302 pm Instituto Cervantes, the National Hispanic Cultural Center, and the Spanish Resource Center present the awards for a student drawing and painting contest to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the creation of Pablo Picasso’s Guernica and to celebrate the exhibition El Prado in Santa Fe—the U.S. debut of 92 full-scale reproductions of some of the greatest masterpieces from Madrid’s Museo del Prado.
