5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Salud y Sabor, a partnership between the Agri-cultura Network, Street Food Institute, and the NHCC, is a free evening of food, art, and entertainment aimed at providing families with an opportunity to connect around nutrition, cooking, healthy lifestyles, and culture. Once a month, community members gather for cooking demonstrations using fresh, locally grown ingredients, as well as fun art activities for kids and adults, health screenings, and live entertainment. Spanish Wine Tasting: By Instituto Cervantes

6 pm to 8:30 pm Instituto Cervantes Albuquerque, in partnership with the National Hispanic Cultural Center and Farm & Table, is hosting a wine tasting seminar at both locations. Helio San Miguel, a Spanish professional from Madrid who works as New York’s correspondent for Club de Gourmets (Spain´s leading wine and food magazine) is the presenter. This event represents our love for gourmet Spanish products and desire to spread the word about them. Spanish Cooking Classes: Paella!

6 pm There are national dishes that are universally appreciated, and paella, from the Spanish gastronomic tradition, is undeniably one of them. Instituto Cervantes Albuquerque, in partnership with the National Hispanic Cultural Center and Pop Fizz, presents a new Spanish cooking class in the series of monthly classes that we have been presenting since 2013. In these classes, students participate in the creative process along with the chef. Peruvian Cooking Class: Ceviche!

6 pm If you are wondering how to prepare Peruvian food, come join us and learn from our Peruvian chef as Instituto Cervantes Albuquerque, in partnership with the National Hispanic Cultural Center and Pop Fizz, hosts a Peruvian cooking class. 6 pm to 8 pm The Piñata Exhibit (Sure to be a Smash Hit!) celebrates this popular art form with over 175 examples from Mexico, California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas and New Mexico. Traditional and iconic works, alongside creations by contemporary piñata artists, illustrate how piñatas maintain their historical and social importance while also reflecting transnational shifts in popular, political, and visual culture. Festival Chispa Presents: Gaby Moreno & Las Cafeteras

8 pm Festival Chispa, a celebration of New Latin music in partnership with Avokado Artists, presents Latin Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno and the incredible L.A.-based Latin alternative band Las Cafeteras. Born and raised in Guatemala, singer/songwriter Gaby Moreno was captivated in her youth by the sounds of the blues, soul, and jazz, and now calls Los Angeles home. Jugamos Juntos: Ciencia en la Cocina

10:30 am to 12 pm The National Hispanic Cultural Center is pleased to offer free children’s programming during the summer. During June, July, and the first Saturday in August, families will be able to come to the Center on Saturday mornings for hands-on art activities, bilingual sing-alongs, outdoor activities in the Bosque and to explore the science of cooking on a rotating basis.
