Opening Reception for La Ultima Exhibición
September-2019-Board-Meeting-Minutes5:30 to 7:30 pm | NHCC Art Museum La Ultima Exhibición, curated by Augustine Romero, features visual interpretations of Rudolfo Anaya's celebrated book, Bless Me, Ultima (1972)-a portrait of life in rural New Mexico as seen through the eyes of a young boy during World War II. Anaya tells of the spiritual healer, Ultima, as she guides young Antonio on a magical and moral journey in this novel that has inspired artists for decades. 4th Annual South American Folk Festival
Patio | Fountain Courtyard 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM, United States2 pm The 4th Annual South American Folk Festival seeks to unite Albuquerque’s South American community in a day of cultural experience and connection through music, dance, and food. In addition to food vendors from participating countries, the festival will feature traditional dancers from Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, and Ecuador. Domingos en Arte: Son Como Son

Founded in 1993, it is unquestionably one of Albuquerque's longest-standing and most popular salsa ensembles. They play regularly to packed audiences comprising highly animated and dedicated salseros at the NM Jazz Workshop's Salsa Under the Stars series; at the Cooperage; and at special concerts, such as those at the Telluride Jazz Festival. They are directed by renowned trombonist, vocalist, percussionist, composer, and arranger César Bauvallet, who moved from Havana, Cuba to Albuquerque in 1992. Domingos en (more...)
