This year's festival features three stages of music from five continents over two nights.   • Día de los Muertos: Despedida

    5 pm - 7 pm Free Community Event The National Hispanic Cultural Center will hold its annual Despedida (Farewell) to celebrate Día de los Muertos with music, poetry, and hands-on art at this time-honored community gathering. This is a great event for all ages. Tour the ofrendas around the NHCC campus and enjoy music, poetry, traditional hot chocolate mexicano, pan de muerto, and the sharing of heartfelt memories.   • Diwali: The Festival of Lights

    5:30 pm - 7:30 pm Diwali is one of the biggest Hindu festivals, celebrated in India with great enthusiasm and happiness for five continuous days. The third day is celebrated as the main Diwali festival, or “Festival of Lights,” and different varieties of colorful fireworks are always associated with this festival. On this auspicious day, people light diyas (lamps) and candles all around their houses. They perform Laxmi Puja in the evening and seek divine blessings from the Goddess of Wealth.     11 am The NHCC will be a special drive-thru distribution location for the Roadrunner Food Bank on Wednesday, December 23rd starting 11am. The Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico supplies food to hundreds of organizations throughout New Mexico and it is an honor to be a distribution partner during this difficult holiday season.
