Latina Equal Pay Community Liftoff
8:30 am Ahead of the NHCC's Latina Pay Day celebration, head to the Center for a hot air balloon launch and remarks from community leaders in support of raising the pay. The liftoff event will be held on the NHCC’s majestic Plaza Mayor! Free Community Event.

Latina Equal Pay Day
11:00 am to 3:00 pm Join us for a celebration of Latina Equal Pay Day at the NHCC. This day, which recognizes the gender and racial pay gaps that still affect Hispanic women in the workforce, will feature a Women’s Art Market, interviews with Latina leaders, bookmaking, scavenger hunts, and more at the Center. Free Community Event.

Siempre Creativo: New Mexico Folk Dance for Seniors
1:30 - 3:30 pm New Mexico Folk Dance for Seniors will feature 4 weeks of traditional Folk dance lessons, including the traditional La Marcha dance, taught by instructor Lucy Salazar. Classes run for four consecutive Wednesdays from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. On the day of the final class, we will dance to live music for a fun-filled dance fiesta! New Mexico Folk Dance is part of the NHCC’s Siempre Creativo program which provides free multidisciplinary arts programs for seniors. Free Community Event, generously supported by AARP (more...)

Poets from the 2023 New Mexico Poetry Anthology: Reading
6:00 pm: Reception and Book-signing 7:00 pm: Reading begins You are cordially invited to celebrate the rich tapestry of New Mexico's poetic voices at the presentation of the New Mexico Poetry Anthology! Join co-editors and former poet laureates Michelle Otero and Levi Romero, along with select contributing poets, as they weave together a poetic tapestry evoking the diverse landscapes, cultures, histories, and poetic traditions that define our state. Early Childhood Bilingual Storytime
10:00 am Stories come to life through art, movement, and more! For children ages 3 to 5 and caregivers. Join us in October as we read Calavera Abecedario: A Day of the Dead Alphabet Book, by Jeanette Winter, and make paper flowers in celebration of the story. NHCC Volunteer Clean Up Day
Shift 1: 8:30 - 11:30 am Shift 2: 1:30 - 3:00 pm The New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs is proud to play our role in keeping New Mexico enchantingly clean as four of our museums and Historic Sites offer a volunteer clean-up day on Friday, October 18. Volunteers will meet at the NHCC Welcome Center at 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. NM United Hispanic Heritage Watch Party
6:30 – 8:00 pm Soccer clinic in Education grass area 8:00 – 10:00 pm Game Time Please join us as we welcome New Mexico United soccer to the NHCC campus with an exciting Watch Party on our Plaza Mayor. Together we can show some Burqueño support as United takes on Orange County SC. The City of Albuquerque will be providing a big screen so everyone can see the game in style.
