Classes run for four consecutive Wednesdays in October and November\, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. On the day of the final class\, live music will be provided by La Rondalla for a fun-filled dance fiesta! No previous dance experience necessary. \nFree Community Event. This series is part of the NHCC’s Siempre Creativo program\, which provides a free multidisciplinary arts program for seniors. Siempre Creativo is generously supported by the United Way DEI Fund.

DESCRIPTION:3:00 pm \nMúsica del Corazón celebrates its tenth anniversary with our favorite performers in the Nuevoméxicano tradition with Nueva Luna\, a conjunto featuring Lara Manzanares\, Rob Martínez\, and Felix “Gato” Peralta\, with special guest Jordan Wax\, the founder of Lone Piñón. Música del Corazón explores foundational genres of the romancero and cancionero\, from Medieval ballads to Revolutionary corridos\, Baroque and contemporary fandangos. We remember the hybrid music of Indo-Hispano rituals and that of Sephardic\, Moorish\, and Christian spiritualities. We revel with the beloved musical “stepchildren” of New Mexico – Flamenco\, Mariachi\, Jarocho\, and Afro-Caribeño. We honor musical families and revivals facilitated by teachers and scholars and have invited musical groups of every size. SUMMARY:2023 New Mexico Music Hall of Fame Award
DESCRIPTION:6:30 pm \nThe New Mexico Music Hall of Fame award show is to recognize those who have made significant contributions to our State’s musical culture. The process of choosing these musical heroes begins each year with the New Mexico Music Hall of Fame Awards Committee asking New Mexico citizens to nominate artists and innovators they thought should be so honored. The nominations were then judged by the Committee and this year seven nominees were chosen for recognition of their lifetime achievement. The New Mexico Music Hall of Fame award show is dedicated to them and is a chance for many of their fans and friends to give heartfelt thanks for all they have done for the musical arts of New Mexico. The stories of each of our honorees are testimonies to lives well lived and generosity of spirit. Their artistry and innovations continue to inspire and provide direction for so many. In that spirit\, the New Mexico Music Hall of Fame and the producers of have joined to present this event that benefits the New Mexico Music Hall of Fame Awards and the New Mexico Music Hall of Fame Museum. \nPerformances by Michael Anthony\, Doug Lawrence\, Chuscales and Sally Townes. \nCongratulations to the 2023 inductees: Eva Torrez\, Michael Anthony\, Doug Lawrence\, Jak Bailey\,\nJohn Denver\, Chuscales\, and Michael Brasher.
