Pimentel Concert Series: Los Tres Reyes

Disney Center for Performing Arts: Albuquerque Journal Theatre 1701 4th St SW, Albuquerque, NM7 pm Los Tres Reyes, founded in 1957 by classically trained guitarists and twin brothers Gilberto and Raul Puente, also includes lead vocalist Bebo Cárdenas. Los Tres Reyes are noted for their contributions to the development of the romantic music genre in Mexico during the 1950s and 1960s, as well as for their guitar virtuosity. Abrepaso Flamenco & Alice Blumenfeld: Vacío/Void
NHCC-Newsletter-November-2-308 pm Saturday, 2 pm Saturday & Sunday Abrepaso seeks to create honest flamenco dance that provokes the audience to think, feel, question, and remember our shared humanity. The name Abrepaso comes from the Spanish phrase “abrir paso,” which can signify making or paving the way and breaking open space. The company aims to establish a contemporary approach to flamenco in the United States, breaking down boundaries and stereotypes through professional, quality performances and education. Festival Ballet Albuquerque: Sacred Journeys with Robert Mirabal
Saturday at 7 pm and Sunday at 2 pm Sacred Journeys, presented by Festival Ballet Albuquerque in partnership with the NHCC, is a reflection of our New Mexican cultures and storytelling through dance, music, and spoken word. Our Hispanic culture is prominent in the story “Las Soldaderas,” choreographed by Dominic Guerra and depicting the story of the young lovers and the many brave women who fought in the Mexican Revolution. ¡Salud y Sabor! Greens and Sprouts/Verduras y Brotes
5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Salud y Sabor, a partnership between the Agri-cultura Network, Street Food Institute, and the NHCC, is a free evening of food, art, and entertainment aimed at providing families with an opportunity to connect around nutrition, cooking, healthy lifestyles, and culture. Once a month, community members gather for cooking demonstrations using fresh, locally grown ingredients, as well as fun art activities for kids and adults, health screenings, and live entertainment. An emphasis is placed on exploring traditional Hispanic dishes, providing basic information/free screenings (more...)
Jenny and the Mexicats St. Patrick’s Day Dance Party

25th Annual César Chávez Day Fiesta
March—10:30 am Fiesta—12 noon-4 pm Join us in honoring the life and legacy of César Chávez at the 25th annual César Chávez Day Fiesta, with a march—La Marcha de Justicia—beginning at 10:30 am at the National Hispanic Cultural Center and ending at noon on the Center’s Plaza Mayor. Following the march, the family fiesta at the Center includes poetry, dancing, community exhibits, children’s activities and games, food, and live music. Son Como Son 25th Anniversary: A Retrospective Celebration of Salsa in Albuquerque, New Mexico
