Take in his Rhapsody in Blue\, performed by Kate Shao\, first-place winner in the piano division of this year’s Jackie McGehee Young Artists’ Competition. The youthful vigor continues with cellist Sydney Tasker\, the first-place string division winner\, performing Saint-Saëns’s Cello Concerto No. 1. Today\, Giacomo Puccini’s soaring music continues to enrapture- no matter how many times you may have heard it. \nAlthough Madama Butterfly is best known for its exquisite arias for sopranos\, the long\, wondrously varied love duet that ends Act I is considered his greatest by many Puccini fans.
