DESCRIPTION:Welcome to an exhibition of posters created by the National Hispanic Cultural Center in support of various and numerous events over the last 16 years. Each of the Center’s programs creates and presents events in conjunction with our mission. This exhibit will run from July to December 2017 in the History and Literary Arts Building. It is free and open to the public Tuesday-Friday\, 10 am–5 pm and the 1st Saturday of the Month\, 1 pm–5 pm.

DESCRIPTION:10:30 am \nThe National Hispanic Cultural Center is pleased to offer children’s programming on the first Saturday morning of every month. This is a fun and engaging docent and artist-led family program. Families (limited to 25 participants) get a 30-minute museum tour focused on an art form\, source inspiration\, artist or type of material. Following the tour\, the whole family can create their own artwork in the Pete V. You don’t want to miss this very special opportunity to meet artist Isaías Rodríguez (aka the Little Piñata Maker) who will be leading a tour of The Piñata Exhibit (Sure to be a Smash Hit!). In addition Isaías Rodríguez (aka the Little Piñata Maker)! Will be holding a trunk show and sale. \nIsaías spent the last ten years capturing the fun and creativity of traditional piñatas but on a mini scale. All of his little piñatas are no bigger than 3-4 inches and each one is unique. You can learn more about Isaías and his work on his website HERE. \nThe Piñata Exhibit (Sure to be a Smash Hit!) celebrates this popular art form with over 175 examples from Mexico\, California\, Arizona\, Nevada\, Texas and New Mexico. DESCRIPTION:2 pm to 4 pm \nJoin author Irene Blea for a reading from her book Beneath the Super Moon. \nThe third book in Blea’s “Suzanna” trilogy\, Beneath the Super Moon follows Suzanna Montoya from the mid-1960s\, in the early days of the Chicano Movement\, as she has settled in the city\, developed a critical consciousness\, and begun to address urban concerns about race\, class\, and gender. Suzanna’s analytical gift provides a colorful voice as she takes action to address the manifestations of racism\, sexism\, and class discrimination where they happen—in her life—all while she seeks to reunite with the sons she left behind when she ran from her abusive husband.\nFree public event
