NHCC Children’s Bilingual Book Festival
History and Literary Arts BuildingAll events at the NHCC through April 30, 2020 have been cancelled / postponed. Please call the NHCC at 505-246-2261 for more information. 9 am to 5 pm The Children's Bilingual Book Festival takes place at the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) in April of each year and features K-6 books in Spanish and English and Native Languages in English. There are author readings, a book fair, student storytelling, poetry performances, workshops for teachers and parents, and art and book-related activities for all ages, including teens. Premiere: Bless Me, Ultima Radio Broadcast
11 am On Albuquerque’s Classical 95.5 KHFM and 98.7 WFMT-FM in Chicago A live national broadcast of the world premiere performance of the opera Bless Me, Ultima, on Albuquerque’s Classical 95.5 KHFM and 98.7 WFMT-FM in Chicago, hosted by Valerie Martinez. Opera Southwest, along with the National Hispanic Cultural Center and San Jose’s Opera Cultura, is thrilled to have commissioned this work based on Rudolfo Anaya’s best-selling novel. The composer, Hector Armienta, worked with Mr. Anaya on the libretto, and the resulting production, which premiered at the (more...)
