Festival Ballet Albuquerque Presents The Nutcracker in the Land of Enchantment

The beloved holiday classic is transported to territorial New Mexico in the late 1800s. Resplendent in its classical origins, this unique southwestern version adds elements of the state’s heritage and traditions including Spanish dancers, southwestern snakes, sheep and shepherdesses, a lively fandango, a Cochiti Pueblo Storyteller doll with children complete with Roadrunner and Coyote characters! El Voto Femenino: Sufragistas Latinas luchando por el derecho al voto
History and Literary Arts BuildingThe National Hispanic Cultural Center’s History and Literary Arts Program presents a new exhibit, “El voto femenino: Sufragistas Latinas luchando por el derecho al voto/The Women’s Vote: Latina Suffragists who Fought for the Right to Vote” which opens on Friday, January 24, 2020, and runs through June 30, 2020. There will be a free opening reception on Friday, January 24, 2020, from 6-8 pm in the historic History and Literary Arts (HLA) Building on the NHCC campus, where the exhibit is on display. NHCC Library: Saturday Hours
NHCC-Newsletter-August-26–September-7The NHCC Library holds over 13,700 titles, with a concentration on the history and culture of the Hispanic/Latino world, as well over 700 children's books, many of which are bilingual. The NHCC Library also houses the Manuel y Lorenzita Lujan Genealogy Center, containing, among other items, the Archives of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. The library also provides access to Ancestry Library Edition and HeritageQuest. The NHCC Library is open: Tuesdays - Fridays from 10am-5pm AND the first Saturday of each month from 1pm-5pm. 1st Annual National Hispanic Cultural Center History Festival
History and Literary Arts BuildingIn 2020, we celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the completion of the famous buon fresco, Mundos de Mestizaje, created by Frederico Vigil in the National Hispanic Cultural Center Torreón. The first annual NHCC History Festival will take place Friday and Saturday, February 21-22, 2020, and we invite you to join us celebrating Hispanic and Latinx history with this year's theme, "Mundos de Mestizaje."All festival events will respond to and engage with the fresco, allowing us to explore Hispanic/Latinx history through the cross-cultural, transnational, and multidisciplinary influences (more...)
