ABQ Latin Dance Festival 2016: Orquesta Canela with Special Guest Micky Cruz

6:30 pm to 12 pm Grab your dancing shoes and turn up the heat at the annual Albuquerque Latin Dance Festival! The four-day rhythm and movement celebration offers performances by world-class dancers as well as non-competitive dance showcases, parties, and workshops. Additional attractions include dance films, lectures, and live musical performances. The festival’s main concert on Saturday night features Orquesta Canela, a 14-piece all-women salsa band from Colombia, and Grammy-nominated artist Micky Cruz, for a magical night of music and dance on the NHCC’s Plaza Mayor. Bosque Chile Festival

11 am to 7 pm Join in the celebration of the chile harvest on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. This is a free event and festivities include entertainment, kids’ activities, arts and crafts vendors, food trucks, beer, wine, and chef demonstrations. The purpose is to create greater awareness, understanding and appreciation of traditional and authentic mariachi music by providing insights into the music, band member make-up, and instruments.
