Noche de Familia

5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Join us at the Center for an evening of Halloween fun for the whole family! Our Noche de Familia will feature trick-or-treating, artmaking, music, and a free screening of Coco at 7:00 pm. The screening is on a first come first served seating. Please arrive early to guarantee a seat. Free family event. Register in advance below. Film: Bless Me, Ultima

7:00 pm Rudolfo Anaya’s beloved and iconic Bless Me, Ultima returns to the NHCC with Carl Franklin’s screen adaptation in partnership with the English department of the University of New Mexico. Bless Me, Ultima is set in the 1940s in rural New Mexico, and tells the story of a young boy and the mysterious healer who opens his eyes to the wonders of the spiritual realm. Explorar Las Artes: Canta Conmigo

10:00 am Children 18 months to 4 years explore the arts through singing bilingual Spanish/English songs using rhythm instruments for accompaniment and a floor piano pad keyboard for toddlers.  Explorar las Artes is a free, bi-monthly 45-minute program for toddlers ages 18 months to 4 years and caregivers that cultivates creativity and self-expression through the exploration of Hispanic/Latine arts and culture. Participants explore the NHCC museum and engage in artmaking, music, movement, dance, drama, and bilingual story time. Our Lady of the Tortilla

Thursday-Sunday, September 8-11, 2022 7:30pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday 2pm on Sunday Sandia Performing Arts Company and the NHCC present Our Lady of the Tortilla by Luis Santeiro, directed by Rayrey Griego. 11:00 am to 3:00 pm Celebrate your dreams of the future through the arts! Make a futuristic costume piece with artists Mike Moreno and Ehren Kee Natay. Explore creative dramatic movement and get inspired with a special presentation by Ehren Kee Natay for this family-friendly free event. Families can also visit the NHCC art museum for free and learn more about exhibits. ¡Globalquerque!: Free Global Fiesta

10:00 am to 3:30 pm Join us for a fun-filled international journey packed with educational workshops, inter-activities, film, panels, food demos, performances, and much more – with offerings for all ages! – created in collaboration with the National Hispanic Cultural Center’s Department of Education! Visual Arts Museum: First Sunday Free Admission

10:00 am to 4:00 pm The first Sunday of every month the Visual Arts Museum is free to all New Mexico residents. During this time, visitors are encouraged to explore the NHCC’s Visual Arts Museum art exhibitions such as Aquí Estamos: New Selections from the Permanent Collection, Tempo y Tiempo: 4 Photographers in New Mexico, and Fronteras del Futuro: Art in New Mexico and Beyond.

Colcha Community Stitch A-long

9:30 am (MST) Live via Zoom only on July 12th and hybrid: on Zoom and onsite beginning August 9, 2022 Our Colcha community Workshop is open to all levels of experience in an informal setting. This workshop is instructed by Annette Gutierrez-Turk. Annette has taught this art form to groups internationally and at the NHCC for many years.
