10:00 am Story by Roseanne Greenfield Thong (Author) and John Parra (Illustrator). Explorar las Artes is a free, bi-monthly 45-minute program for children ages 3-5 years old and caregivers that cultivates creativity and self-expression through the exploration of Hispanic/Latine arts and culture. Participants explore the NHCC museum and engage in artmaking, music, movement, dance, drama, and bilingual story time. NHCC instructors model age-appropriate arts techniques that celebrate self-expression, build vocabulary, and strengthen both fine-motor and gross-motor skills in a fun environment.  This program generously supported through a (more…)

Explorar Las Artes: Early Childhood Bilingual Storytime—Gazpacho for Nacho

10:00 am Listen to the rollicking story, Gazpacho for Nacho and then use your five senses to explore the tasty ingredients of gazpacho! By Tracey Kyle (Author) and Carolina Farías (Illustrator). Our gazpacho will be made with cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, garlic, onion, olive oil, pepper, salt, vinegar. For children ages 3 to 5 and caregivers Free. Register below. 6:00 pm Join us at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center for the second Community Listening Session in a series of 6 for our Voces de Latinidad documentary film project. Each gathering in this series will focus on a different cultural aspect of the question: “Who or what is Latinidad?” Voces de Latinidad aims to feature unique voices from our community culminating in a short documentary and digital archive celebrating the rich diversity of our lived experiences. Visual Arts Museum: First Sunday Free Admission

10:00 am to 4:00 pm The first Sunday of every month the Visual Arts Museum is free to all New Mexico residents. During this time, visitors are encouraged to explore the NHCC’s Visual Arts Museum art exhibitions such as Aquí Estamos: New Selections from the Permanent Collection, Tempo y Tiempo: 4 Photographers in New Mexico, and Fronteras del Futuro: Art in New Mexico and Beyond.

OCB Natural New Mexico

10:00 am to 6:00 pm OCB Natural New Mexico. This year’s competition will be held at the National Hispanic Cultural Center’s Albuquerque Journal Theatre in Albuquerque, NM on Saturday, July 23, 2022. New Mexico Spanish Spelling Bee

8:00 am – 2:00 pm New Mexico Association for Bilingual Education presents the New Mexico Spanish Spelling Bee. Students in grades 4-8 from across New Mexico represent their school districts or charter schools in the Spanish Spelling Bee Competition.  This contest is intended to continue promoting the Spanish language and culture among New Mexico students. This is a free ticketed event
