Mira, Mira On the Wall: Reflecting on 20 Years of Exhibitions

The National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) turned twenty years old in 2020 and the museum now has twenty years of exhibitions to reflect on and learn from. Mira Mira On the Wall: Reflecting on 20 Years of Exhibitions recounts a selection of exhibits that have been presented over the last two decades. It examines their impact on the permanent collection, the importance of the stories that have been told, and celebrates the artists that have participated in shaping the identity of the museum over the years. Celebrating Traditions

Christmas Day is usually filled with get togethers with family and friends and if you are in New Mexico attending dances at one of the Pueblos. Holiday celebrations represent rich cultural and artistic traditions. We thought we would bring a little bit of the museum to you, the objects represented are integral to holiday festivities. Roadrunner Food Bank Distribution Location

11 am The NHCC will be a special drive-thru distribution location for the Roadrunner Food Bank on Wednesday, December 23rd starting 11am. The Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico supplies food to hundreds of organizations throughout New Mexico and it is an honor to be a distribution partner during this difficult holiday season. New Year’s Eve around the Hispanic World

Art Making: Try this at home!

In April 2019, we made lemonade out of lemons in the Art Museum. Not real lemonade, because food and drink aren’t allowed in the Museum! We were expecting construction, and to keep the art safe, it had to be put in storage. We took the families participating in our Saturday program, Vamos al Museo into the Museum to look at blank walls. We hope you take a walk on the trail, west of the NHCC campus to view a new outside exhibit space. After your experience with the exhibit, go home and make something! Can you transform your outside space in to an exhibit space? 

Día de los Muertos: Home Ofrenda

Make an ofrenda @home to celebrate Día de los Muertos! The National Hispanic Cultural Center remains closed, and since we can’t invite you to the NHCC to celebrate Día de los Muertos, we invite you to share the names of your loved ones in the comments on our social media to create a digital remembrance.
