Trío Los Andinos

7:30 pm Puerto Rican ensemble Trío Los Andinos, together with Mariachi Nuevo Sonido and pianist and violinist Mariano Morales, performs some of the most beloved compositions by Latin American composers. Much of Latin America’s romantic music has been written for, and traditionally performed by, trios, and the concert is designed to continue and preserve this tradition, as well as uniting the Americas through music. ABQ Philharmonic Presents “Art and Music Combined!” (Rental)

3 pm – 4:30 pm Music director Byron Herrington conducts the ABQ Philharmonic in “Art and Music Combined!” Students create artwork based on listening to the music, which is then projected above the orchestra as well as displayed in the lobby. Film: Bless Me, Ultima

7 pm This month, the NHCC is offering another screening of the film Bless Me, Ultima in conjunction with La Ultima Exhibición, which will be closing on December 16, 2018. Curated by Augustine Romero, the exhibition in the NHCC Art Museum Community Gallery features visual interpretations of Rudolfo Anaya’s beloved novel. 12 pm to 5 pm A Vision of History through Fresco… Mundos de Mestizaje by Frederico Vigil is a mural housed in the Torreón on the campus of the National Hispanic Cultural Center. This monumental fresco depicts thousands of years of Hispanic history highlighting diverse cultural connections between people and places from the Iberian Peninsula to the Americas. The 4,000 square foot painting is one of the largest frescos in North America. The digitized imagery of the painting ensures that this culturally significant work can be a (more…)

Opening for Children’s Garden

5 pm Join us and the U.S. Forrest Service for the grand opening of the Children’s Garden: A Certified Nature Explore Classroom located on the east side of the Pete V. Domenici Education Building. The Children’s Garden is designed to give urban kids hands-on, daily connections with nature and includes interactive elements such as instruments, garden areas and natural materials for building or creating art. The Children’s Garden will be open all hours that the NHCC campus is open.
