¡Vamos al Museo! Día de los Muertos

10:30 am to noon The National Hispanic Cultural Center is pleased to offer children’s programming on the first Saturday morning of every month. This is a fun and engaging docent and artist-led family program. Families (limited to 25 participants) get a 30-minute museum tour focused on an art form, source inspiration, artist or type of material. Sundays in the Museum: Exhibition tour with Brandee Caoba

2 pm Join us for a tour of the exhibition, Because It’s Time, led by Brandee Caoba. About her artwork, Spiritus Mundi, Brandee writes, “Approaching this project from a universal perspective, I have come to recognize that we are all living under the same sky. We share an almost identical genetic code–regardless of skin color, hair texture, the color of our eyes, gender, sexual orientation, education, socio-economic background and ethnic or cultural identity. NHCC Children’s Bilingual Book Festival

All events at the NHCC through April 30, 2020 have been cancelled / postponed. Please call the NHCC at 505-246-2261 for more information. 9 am to 5 pm The Children’s Bilingual Book Festival takes place at the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) in April of each year and features K-6 books in Spanish and English and Native Languages in English. Día de los Muertos: Despedida

5 pm to 7 pm Día de Muertos is an annual traditional holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and many Hispanic communities. Join the NHCC and experienced, knowledgeable local artists to learn about the meaning of this celebration, the traditional arts and crafts associated with the celebration and development of ofrendas that honor families and individuals. The National Hispanic Cultural Center will hold its annual Despedida to celebrate Día de los Muertos with music, poetry and hands-on art making at this time-honored community gathering. Día de los Muertos Ofrenda Exhibit and Community Ofrenda

10 am to 5 pm Each year the NHCC works with schools and community organizations to host an Ofrenda (altar) Installation, in celebration of Día de los Muertos. Participants’ submissions will be on display in the Domenici Education Building and the Roy E. Disney Center for Performing Arts at the NHCC. You are welcome to contribute to our community ofrenda (please don’t bring valuables or irreplaceable photographs, reproductions are encouraged). National Institute of Flamenco and the NHCC Present Yjastros 34

  The NHCC’s Roy E. Disney Center for Performing Arts is closed due to a facilities issues. As a result, this weekend’s performances of the National Institute of Flamenco’s performances of “Yjastros 34” at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, on March 15 and 16, are canceled. Revolutions International Theatre Festival: Migrant Songs
