10:00 am – 12:00 pm You are cordially invited to celebrate the rich tapestry of New Mexico’s poetic voices at the presentation of the New Mexico Poetry Anthology! Join co-editors and former poet laureates Michelle Otero and Levi Romero, along with select contributing poets, as they weave together a poetic tapestry evoking the diverse landscapes, cultures, histories, and poetic traditions that define our state. Latina Equal Pay Day 

11:00 am to 3:00 pm Join us for a celebration of Latina Equal Pay Day at the NHCC. This day, which recognizes the gender and racial pay gaps that still affect Hispanic women in the workforce, will feature a Women’s Art Market, interviews with Latina leaders, bookmaking, scavenger hunts, and more at the Center.  Free Community Event.

Mexican Independence Day Celebration in partnership with the Mexican Consul

5:30 – 7:30 pm In collaboration with the Consulate of Mexico, the National Hispanic Cultural Center is proud to host a celebration of Mexican Independence Day featuring vendors, dancing, and much more!  On Sept. 12, the Center will be joined by the Consulate of Mexico providing a formal flag unveiling and the traditional Grito, a celebration announcement of independence. The courtyard of the celebration will be adorned with Mexican flags and other decorations. The event will feature local vendors selling aguas frescas, churros, and other delicious foods
