6 pm – 7 pm Beginning and Intermediate – This class is geared for teenagers and adults. Come learn footwork, partner skills and choreography. No experience necessary. 7 pm – 8 pm Intermediate and Advanced – In order to participate in this class, dancers must know how to keep time, closed position calls, dame, enchufla, and outside turn. Spanish Cooking Classes: Paella!

6 pm There are national dishes that are universally appreciated, and paella, from the Spanish gastronomic tradition, is undeniably one of them. Instituto Cervantes Albuquerque, in partnership with the National Hispanic Cultural Center and Pop Fizz, presents a new Spanish cooking class in the series of monthly classes that we have been presenting since 2013. In these classes, students participate in the creative process along with the chef. 2 pm Join Margaret Garcia for a presentation and excerpts from her book Tell Me Another War Story, chronicling the history of the New Mexico National Guard 200th Coast Artillery, their valiant stand on Bataan in the Philippines, and their reluctant surrender on April 9th 1942, followed by the infamous Bataan Death March and status as POWs.  She will also talk about her father, Evans Garcia’s experiences growing up in southern New Mexico, in the battle and  prison camp, and how he and his “buddies” stayed together

6 pm Two award-winning poets from Cuba, Ruiz Montes and Alfredo Zaldívar, will be coming to Albuquerque in April to launch two new books of poetry, published by Red Mountain Press in Santa Fe.
