Colcha Class

9 am Annette Gutierrez Turk is offering a three-hour class in Spanish Colonial colcha embroidery, giving participants the opportunity to learn the history of this New Mexican style of embroidery. All materials are furnished, and the class is limited to 15 students, ages 12 to adult. The class project will be the creation of the colorful bird featured above. During June, July, and first Saturday in August, families will be able to come to the Center on Saturday mornings for hands-on art activities, bilingual sing-alongs, outdoor activities in the Bosque and explore the science of cooking on a rotating basis. Spanish Cooking Class-Tapas!

July 27 6 pm to 8:30 pm $35 per person Instituto Cervantes Albuquerque, in partnership with the National Hispanic Cultural Center and Pop Fizz, again celebrates its monthly Spanish cooking class.  In July, attendees will have the opportunity to taste a variety of delicious tapas, thanks to our Spanish chef Chari Arellano. 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Salud y Sabor, a partnership between the Agri-cultura Network, Street Food Institute, and the NHCC, is a free evening of food, art, and entertainment aimed at providing families with an opportunity to connect around nutrition, cooking, healthy lifestyles, and culture.
