Colcha Community Stitch A-Long

This workshop is instructed by Annette Gutierrez-Turk. Annette has taught colcha, a Spanish Colonial embroidery style, to groups internationally and at the NHCC for many years. She is also an award-winning artist, most recently recognized in 2019 at Traditional Spanish Market in Santa Fe. Annette is taking September off. Latin Dance for Seniors

Classes run for four consecutive Wednesdays from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Noche de Familia: Bless Me, Ultima
Cayetana Romero Lobby5:00 – 7:00 pm (Film screening held immediately following) Join us for a Noche de Familia inspired by Rudolfo Anaya's beloved novel Bless Me, Ultima! Craft a flapping owl hand puppet, design a drawing inspired by the novel, and use herbs or leaves to emboss clay creations. Free books and coloring books will be available. Genealogy Workshops

The Albuquerque Folk Festival
NHCC Campus 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM• Gates open Sunday at 10:00 am. • The festival starts and 10:00 am and ends at 8:00 pm. • Evening dance(s) start at 5:30 pm. • Most workshops, kids’ tent, jams, storytelling, and musical instrument petting zoo start at 10:30 am and end between 4:30-5:30 pm Enjoy the Albuquerque Folk Festival this year! Happy Arte Hour

Arte Para Chiquitos
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM10:00 – 10:45 am Arte para chiquitos is a free, monthly, 45-minute program for babies and toddlers ages 0 months to 4 years and their caregivers that cultivates creativity and self-expression through the exploration of Hispanic/Latine arts and culture. Participants explore the NHCC Museum, Performing Arts Center, and engage in artmaking, music, movement, dance, drama, and bilingual story time. NHCC instructors model age-appropriate arts techniques that celebrate self-expression, build vocabulary, and strengthen both fine-motor and gross-motor skills in a fun environment.
