  • Día de los Muertos Ofrenda Exhibit and Community Ofrenda

    10 am to 5 pm Each year the NHCC works with schools and community organizations to host an Ofrenda (altar) Installation, in celebration of Día de los Muertos. Participants’ submissions will be on display in the Domenici Education Building and the Roy E. Disney Center for Performing Arts at the NHCC. You are welcome to contribute to our community ofrenda (please don't bring valuables or irreplaceable photographs, reproductions are encouraged).   • ¡Salud y Sabor! Chocolate/Chocolate–Dia de los Muertos

    5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Salud y Sabor, a partnership between the Agri-cultura Network, Street Food Institute, and the NHCC, is a free evening of food, art, and entertainment aimed at providing families with an opportunity to connect around nutrition, cooking, healthy lifestyles, and culture. Once a month, community members gather for cooking demonstrations using fresh, locally grown ingredients, as well as fun art activities for kids and adults, health screenings, and live entertainment. In addition, Michelle is coordinating a series of walks along the Rio Grande Bosque, “Walking with Poets,” hosted by local poets, highlighting the work of poets we love,  and raising awareness of the need to conserve and preserve our beloved Rio.   • Dia de Los Muertos Art Show: “Lost Places”

    5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Join us for a special Dia de los Muertos art show. New Mexico artists were invited to create 8” x 8” works of art with poetry or text that honor a place whose absence they mourn—whether a lost region of the Amazon, Chaco Canyon, or an abuela’s kitchen. Proceeds from sales of the works support the artists and NHCC History and Literary Arts programming.
