Jugamos Juntos: Ciencia en la Cocina
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM10:30 am to 12 pm The National Hispanic Cultural Center is pleased to offer free children’s programming during the summer. During June, July, and first Saturday in August, families will be able to come to the Center on Saturday mornings for hands-on art activities, bilingual sing-alongs, outdoor activities in the Bosque and explore the science of cooking on a rotating basis. Body isolation movements, reggaeton, and Latin Hip Hop on August 1 and August 8 7-8 pm in the Salon Ortega at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. All ages and all levels welcome. Carlota began dancing at the age of 2. She currently teaches jazz, hip-hop, tap, and contemporary dance at Fishback studio of dance. This is a great opportunity for friends to hang out, a unique date night option, or a place to come solo and connect with fellow art enthusiasts. First Friday: Docent Education and Conversation

Colcha Class
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM9 am Annette Gutierrez Turk is offering a three-hour class in Spanish Colonial colcha embroidery, giving participants the opportunity to learn the history of this New Mexican style of embroidery. All materials are furnished, and the class is limited to 15 students, ages 12 to adult. The class project will be the creation of the colorful bird featured above. Annette is a ninth generation New Mexican, born and raised in Albuquerque. She is a Spanish Market artist, juried for weaving and colcha embroidery, and a volunteer at (more...)
¡Salud y Sabor!: Cuba
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Salud y Sabor, a partnership between the Agri-cultura Network, Street Food Institute, and the NHCC, is a free evening of food, art, and entertainment aimed at providing families with an opportunity to connect around nutrition, cooking, healthy lifestyles, and culture. Once a month, community members gather for cooking demonstrations using fresh, locally grown ingredients, as well as fun art activities for kids and adults, health screenings, and live entertainment.
