Summer Institute Performances: Voces
NHCC-Newsletter-November-2-307 pm The NHCC’s Summer Institutes—Circo Latino, the Manoa Project, and Voces— students from the Voces writing program will perform selected pieces from their month of intensive writing that explore their own inner voices and the themes of community, agriculture, farming and our relationship with nature represented in the NHCC Art Museum’s current exhibit Outstanding in His Field: San Ysidro—Patron Saint of Farmers. Saturdays in the Museum

Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM10:30 am to 12 pm The National Hispanic Cultural Center is pleased to offer free children’s programming during the summer. During June, July, and the first Saturday in August, families will be able to come to the Center on Saturday mornings for hands-on art activities, bilingual sing-alongs, outdoor activities in the Bosque and to explore the science of cooking on a rotating basis. Seeing Double: Paired Perspective Museum Tours

Led by two different specialists with two distinct perspectives, it’s sure to have you seeing the artwork in new ways! The tour will be led by artist Arturo Olivas and Master Gardener Chris Fenner, who will discuss San Ysidro and the exhibit as a whole from an artistic and an agricultural perspective. First Friday: Docent Education and Conversation
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM9:30 am - 12 pm On the first Friday of each month, NHCC docents and core volunteers meet for coffee and conversation along with monthly presentations on topics that build the knowledge and skills of the docent core to give tours, educate the NHCC visitors and share the NHCC mission and programs. We will explore the farm, taste some fresh produce, learn about New Mexico heritage, sustainability, and connection to the earth, and enjoy mindfulness meditation with Wellness Specialist José Maresma. ¡Baile! Rueda de Casino (Cuban Salsa) Dance Class
NHCC-Newsletter-August-11-–-246 pm – 7 pm Beginning and Intermediate - This class is geared for teenagers and adults. Come learn footwork, partner skills and choreography. No experience necessary. 7 pm – 8 pm Intermediate and Advanced - In order to participate in this class, dancers must know how to keep time, closed position calls, dame, enchufla, and outside turn. ¡Salud y Sabor!: Peru
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Salud y Sabor, a partnership between the Agri-cultura Network, Street Food Institute, and the NHCC, is a free evening of food, art, and entertainment aimed at providing families with an opportunity to connect around nutrition, cooking, healthy lifestyles, and culture. Once a month, community members gather for cooking demonstrations using fresh, locally grown ingredients, as well as fun art activities for kids and adults, health screenings, and live entertainment.
