    5 pm - 7 pm Free Community Event The National Hispanic Cultural Center will hold its annual Despedida (Farewell) to celebrate Día de los Muertos with music, poetry, and hands-on art at this time-honored community gathering. This is a great event for all ages. Tour the ofrendas around the NHCC campus and enjoy music, poetry, traditional hot chocolate mexicano, pan de muerto, and the sharing of heartfelt memories.   • Salud y Sabor celebrates Mexico and Día de los Muertos

    11:30 am - 2 pm Free Family Fun Salud y Sabor, a partnership between the Agri-cultura Network, Street Food Institute, and the NHCC is a free event with food, art, and entertainment aimed at providing families with an opportunity to connect around nutrition, cooking, healthy lifestyles, and culture. Once a month, community members gather for cooking demonstrations using fresh, locally grown ingredients, as well as fun art activities for kids and adults, health screenings, and live entertainment.     The National Hispanic Cultural Center is pleased to be a co-sponsor of the 11th Annual Student Leadership Institute (SLI 2019). SLI will take place Friday, November 15, at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. The institute is part of La Cosecha Dual Language Conference and will bring together over 240 linguistically and culturally diverse students from around the country to focus on issues of identity, leadership, and the development of an asset-based perspective related to their diverse backgrounds.   • The Neighborhood Project: Las Voces de Barelas Opening Reception
