First Friday: Docent Education and Conversation
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM9:00 am – 11 am On the first Friday of each month, NHCC docents and core volunteers meet for coffee and conversation along with monthly presentations on topics that build the knowledge and skills of the docent core to give tours, educate the NHCC visitors and share the NHCC mission and programs. ¡Vamos al Museo!
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM10:30 am to 12 pm A great morning of art-making for children of all ages and families of all sizes. A visit to the museum is included in this workshop led by artist Zahra Marwan, whose work can be seen in the NHCC Art Musuem's newest exhibit, Because It's Time: Unraveling Race and Place in NM. ¡Baile! Rueda de Casino (Cuban Salsa) Dance Class
6 pm to 7 pm Beginning and Intermediate - This class is geared for teenagers and adults. Come learn footwork, partner skills and choreography. No experience necessary. 7 pm to 8 pm Intermediate and Advanced - In order to participate in this class, dancers must know how to keep time, closed position calls, dame, enchufla, and outside turn. We will resume our regular schedule in June with Happy Arte Hour on June 7. 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm On the first Thursday of the month, NHCC invites adults for artistic fun in a relaxed social setting, which includes snacks, refreshments, and beer & wine for sale from Pop Fizz. ¡Salud y Sabor! Kids Cooking Competition (Tortillas)
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Salud y Sabor, a partnership between the Agri-cultura Network, Street Food Institute, and the NHCC, is a free evening of food, art, and entertainment aimed at providing families with an opportunity to connect around nutrition, cooking, healthy lifestyles, and culture. Once a month, community members gather for cooking demonstrations using fresh, locally grown ingredients, as well as fun art activities for kids and adults, health screenings, and live entertainment.
