Each contestant will perform one of the great Romantic piano quintets by Brahms, Dvořák, Schumann, or Franck, bringing their artistry and interpretation to these beloved masterpieces. Modeled on the grandeur of Bach’s Mass in B Minor and the Salzburg ceremonial tradition, Mozart’s Mass in C Minor blends contrapuntal rigor with operatic brilliance. 2:00 pm Opera Southwest Presents: The New Mexico Symphonic Chorus Brahms – Requiem Ein deutsches Requiem (A German Requiem) Presented in Spanish translation Brahms did not set a Latin mass. He called his great work "Ein deutsches Requiem—A German Requiem" – but wrote to a colleague that he would have preferred to call it “A Human Requiem.” His intention was clear: this is music for the living, not the dead.
