Modeled on the grandeur of Bach’s Mass in B Minor and the Salzburg ceremonial tradition, Mozart’s Mass in C Minor blends contrapuntal rigor with operatic brilliance. Disney Center for Performing Arts: Albuquerque Journal Theatre 1701 4th St SW, Albuquerque, NM2:00 pm Opera Southwest Presents: The New Mexico Symphonic Chorus Brahms – Requiem Ein deutsches Requiem (A German Requiem) Presented in Spanish translation Brahms did not set a Latin mass. He called his great work "Ein deutsches Requiem—A German Requiem" – but wrote to a colleague that he would have preferred to call it “A Human Requiem.” His intention was clear: this is music for the living, not the dead.
