    5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Convergence x Crossroads: Street Art from the Southwest is an exhibition in the Art Museum at the National Hispanic Cultural Center that showcases the vibrancy and ingenuity of the street art scenes in New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, California, and Northern Mexico presenting artworks by artists who identify as Chicano/a/x, Latino/a/x, Indigenous, and Native American.   • Colcha Community Stitch A-Long

    9:30 am in-person 10:30 am Zoom Our Colcha Community Stich-A-Long is open to all levels of experience in an informal setting. This workshop is instructed by Annette Gutierrez-Turk. Annette has taught colcha, a Spanish Colonial embroidery style, to groups internationally and at the NHCC for many years. She is also an award-winning artist, most recently recognized in 2019 at Traditional Spanish Market in Santa Fe. Annette will demonstrate as well as answer questions.   • Paño Connections: Free Closing Event

  • Exhibit Reception: Rendered Presence: Artistas de Nuevo México

    5:00 - 7:00 pm Join us for a free public reception celebrating the opening of Rendered Presence: Artistas de Nuevo México. Guest curated by Vicente Telles, the exhibition explores artworks by artists living and working throughout New Mexico. Many of the artworks are figurative and created on a scale that challenges limited understandings of New Mexican art.   • Latina Equal Pay Day

This day, which recognizes the gender and racial pay gaps that still affect Hispanic women in the workforce, will feature a Women’s Art Market, interviews with Latina leaders, bookmaking, scavenger hunts, and more at the Center.  Free Community Event.

    11:00 am During the week of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, the Center will be hosting additional weekend guided tours of the dramatic Mundos de Mestizaje fresco by Frederico Vigil. These additional tours will be held on the first two Saturdays of October at 11 am. Located in the Torreón on the NHCC Campus, Mundos de Mestizaje depicts thousands of years of Hispanic culture, history, and identity.   • Re-Scheduled: Printmaking for Seniors! Gelli Plate/Monotype with Artist Carol C. Sánchez

    1:30 - 3:30 pm NHCC | Pete Domenici Education Building: Grand Hall Gelli Plate/Monotype is considered the painter’s print. A basic printmaking process in which an image is created by rolling or painting with inks directly onto a plate and printed onto paper. Usually only one impression is pulled. In this workshop, we will explore various ways of applying inks and paints to create unique images.
