1:00 - 3:30 pm Join for an event celebrating the final weeks of the exhibition Paño Connections: Corazón Knows No Bounds! Premier of short video by Richard Keel. Panel discussion with artists Joey Nelson, David Luna, Gerald Lovato, and Eric Christo Martinez. Poetry and Music by Carlos Contreras & IC Wayne. The exhibition Paño Connections is organized by artist and guest curator Eric “Christo” Martinez. 5:00 - 7:00 pm Join us for a free public reception celebrating the opening of Rendered Presence: Artistas de Nuevo México. Guest curated by Vicente Telles, the exhibition explores artworks by artists living and working throughout New Mexico. Many of the artworks are figurative and created on a scale that challenges limited understandings of New Mexican art. In their own way, each artist explores identity and the self, art history, and the expanse of Hispanic, Chicana/o/x, and Latina/o/x contemporary art. 11:00 am to 3:00 pm Join us for a celebration of Latina Equal Pay Day at the NHCC. This day, which recognizes the gender and racial pay gaps that still affect Hispanic women in the workforce, will feature a Women’s Art Market, interviews with Latina leaders, bookmaking, scavenger hunts, and more at the Center. Free Community Event.
11:00 am During the week of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, the Center will be hosting additional weekend guided tours of the dramatic Mundos de Mestizaje fresco by Frederico Vigil. These additional tours will be held on the first two Saturdays of October at 11 am. Located in the Torreón on the NHCC Campus, Mundos de Mestizaje depicts thousands of years of Hispanic culture, history, and identity. Admission for the tour is $2 and tickets are available for advance purchase below. Tickets can also be purchased in the (more...)

1:30 - 3:30 pm NHCC | Pete Domenici Education Building: Grand Hall Gelli Plate/Monotype is considered the painter’s print. A basic printmaking process in which an image is created by rolling or painting with inks directly onto a plate and printed onto paper. Usually only one impression is pulled. In this workshop, we will explore various ways of applying inks and paints to create unique images. 1:30 - 3:30 pm NHCC | Pete Domenici Education Building: Grand Hall Relief/Lino-cut printmaking is one of the oldest and most basic printmaking processes. The image is printed from a raised surface, in which the non-image areas have been carved out. Examples include wood block and Lino-cut. 7:00 to 8:15 pm Plaza Mayor | National Hispanic Cultural Center Whether you call them ‘farolitos’ or ‘luminarias,’ come celebrate New Mexico’s distinctive holiday lights at the Center! On Dec. 12, join us for a holiday celebration illuminated by the world’s tallest ‘Luminito,’ a 20-foot-tall, steel-reinforced structure inspired by New Mexico’s traditional holiday lights. The Luminito will be lit up during the event, spreading holiday cheer throughout the Center.
