    4 pm to 5:30 pm The National Hispanic Cultural Center will hold its annual Despedida to celebrate  Día de los Muertos with music, poetry and hands-on art making at this time-honored community gathering. This is a great event for all ages. Workshop - Mini Ofrendas & Sugar Skulls at 4 pm to 5:30 pm Tour the ofrendas around the NHCC campus; enjoy music, traditional chocolate mexicano, pan de muertos, and sharing of special and heartfelt memories.   • Film: Willie Velasquez, Su Voto Es Su Voz

    7 pm With the rallying cry of “su voto es su voz” (“your vote is your voice”), Mexican American activist Willie Velasquez launched a grassroots movement that changed the nation’s political landscape forever. Through the nonpartisan Southwest Voter Registration and Education Project (SVREP), Velasquez launched over a thousand voter registration drives in 200 cities, creating a movement that has continued to grow in power each year. His exploration of the Mesoamerican legend of La Llorona, the “Wailing Woman,” gives both historic and human depth to the well-known myth.   • Fridays @ M’tucci’s Cocina Grill

    11 am to 8 pm M’tucci’s Cocina Grill will serve lunch and dinner on Fridays from 11 am until 8 pm, beginning November 4th. Our buffet will offer a changing and eclectic variety of Latino dishes as well as international favorites. Our full service bar will be open throughout, serving M’tucci’s outstanding cocktails.   • Chispa: New Latin Music Series: La Yegros

    8 pm While La Yegros now lives in Buenos Aires, her family comes from the rural rain forests of northern Argentina, bordering Brazil. She received classical conservatory training in music, and made her professional debut performing before thousands with experimental theatre troupe De La Guarda. Her diverse repertoire includes tropical rhythms, Argentine folk, reggae, dancehall, soul, and Arabic music.   • ¡Vamos al Museo!: Día de los Muertos: Sugar Skulls & Mini Ofrendas

    10:30 am to 12:30 pm The National Hispanic Cultural Center is pleased to offer children’s programming on the first Saturday morning of every month. This is a fun and engaging docent and artist-led family program.  Families (limited to 25 participants) get a 30-minute museum tour focused on an art form, source inspiration, artist or type of material.  Following the tour, the whole family can create their own artwork in the Pete V.     2 pm to 4 pm Join author Don Usner, and collaborators Kate Ware and Daniel Kosharek, for a presentation and book signing of ¡Órale! Lowrider: Custom Made in New Mexico, a beautiful photography book that pays homage to an enduring but evolving, cultural tradition with a fascinating compilation of four decades of lowriding, including photographs by New Mexico's most renowned documentarians with cultural studies of lowriders in their communities.
