  • Aliento: Dzul Dance Company

    Roy E. Disney Center for Performing Arts: Albuquerque Journal Theatre 1701 4th St SW, Albuquerque, NM

    7:30 pm Dzul Dance fuses dance with aerial arts, contortion, and acrobatics to communicate indigenous pre-Hispanic, Mexican and Latin culture and create bridges between contemporary art and historical heritage. Artistic director Javier Dzul grew up in the jungles of southern Mexico performing Mayan ritual dance until the age of 16; he has since performed with Ballet Nacional de México, Ballet Folklórico de México, the Martha Graham Dance Company, Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble, and American Indian Dance Theater.   • ¡Vamos al Museo!

    10:30 am to 12:00 pm The National Hispanic Cultural Center is pleased to offer children’s programming on the first Saturday morning of every month. This is a fun and engaging artist-led family program.  Families (limited to 25 participants) get a 30-minute museum tour focused on an art form, source inspiration, artist or type of material.  Following the tour, the whole family can create their own artwork in the Pete V. The Book of Archives tells the story of New Mexico’s Mora Valley, located in the shadow of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, through the ghosts of history it harbors: troubadours and soldiers, Plains Indians and settlers, families fleeing and finding home.   • San Ysidro Feast Day Celebration

    10 am to 2 pm Each spring, New Mexico communities celebrate San Ysidro (aka San Isidro or Saint Isidore) the patron saint of farmers, gardeners, and workers. San Ysidro blesses the fields, brings rain and discourages drought, and assures a healthy growing season for local crops such as chile, beans, corn and squash.
