The title of Mr. Holtby’s presentation is from his recently published book by the same name, which will be available for purchase at the meeting for $33. More than 14,000 New Mexicans served in uniform during World War 1 and thousands more contributed to the American home front.     12 pm to 5 pm A Vision of History through Fresco… Mundos de Mestizaje by Frederico Vigil is a mural housed in the Torreón on the campus of the National Hispanic Cultural Center. This monumental fresco depicts thousands of years of Hispanic history highlighting diverse cultural connections between people and places from the Iberian Peninsula to the Americas. International Cinema Series, presented in partnership with ¡Globalquerque!, New Mexico’s Fourteenth Celebration of World Music and Culture, returning to the NHCC on September 21 & 22.     2 pm Join us for a family-friendly tour of the NHCC Art Museum exhibition, La Ultima Exhibición. All generations will gain new perspectives about art during this unique museum experience the led by María Dolores Gonzales who represents Ultima’s perspective. María Dolores Gonzales is an artist and writer and runs a Spanish language immersion program in Northern New Mexico.   • La Canoa: Mulattos of Cochiti: Caste in Spanish New Mexico

    2 pm Please join Deputy State Historian Rob Martinez, as he examines the role of racial mixing, identity, and the categorizing of humans living in Spanish Colonial New Mexico. The approach will be through the lens of the casta, or caste system. Historical research, genealogy, and DNA all converge to provide a clearer understanding of Hispano roots in New Mexico, as well as in Latino-Meso America and Hispanic Europe.
