    5 pm to 6 pm Family and Friends Dance Class - On Tuesday nights in June and July, the National Hispanic Cultural Center is offering Latin American and Hispanic dance classes at 5 pm for families and friends. These classes will foster an intergenerational learning atmosphere. Bring your kids! Bring your grandparents! Bring your neighbors! Learning about the history and culture of the dances will be included. Some dances that may be taught include salsa, bachata, merengue, Mexican ballet folklorico, chachacha, casino, and more. This six-week series is a project of City Lore, a cultural center for the arts and humanities based in New York City.     12 pm to 5 pm A Vision of History through Fresco… Mundos de Mestizaje by Frederico Vigil is a mural housed in the Torreón on the campus of the National Hispanic Cultural Center. This monumental fresco depicts thousands of years of Hispanic history highlighting diverse cultural connections between people and places from the Iberian Peninsula to the Americas.     7:30 pm With roots in East and South Central Los Angeles, La Chamba is driven by electric guitar that fuses ‘60’s psychedelic-inspired surf-pop from Peru with Afro-Latin rhythms. “Chamba,” literally meaning “work,” is a word used throughout the barrios of Latin America to describe one’s hustle. The band’s sound pays homage to the melodies and grooves of Peruvian Chicha music popular among the working classes of Lima and the Amazon. During June, July, and the first two Saturdays in August, families will be able to come to the Center on Saturday mornings for a new activity every week.
