  • 25th Annual César Chávez Day Fiesta

    March—10:30 am Fiesta—12 noon-4 pm Join us in honoring the life and legacy of César Chávez at the 25th annual César Chávez Day Fiesta, with a march—La Marcha de Justicia—beginning at 10:30 am at the National Hispanic Cultural Center and ending at noon on the Center’s Plaza Mayor. Following the march, the family fiesta at the Center includes poetry, dancing, community exhibits, children’s activities and games, food, and live music.   • Mundos de Mestizaje

    12 pm to 5 pm A Vision of History through Fresco… Mundos de Mestizaje by Frederico Vigil is a mural housed in the Torreón on the campus of the National Hispanic Cultural Center. This monumental fresco depicts thousands of years of Hispanic history highlighting diverse cultural connections between people and places from the Iberian Peninsula to the Americas.     Tonight's class is cancelled! Please join us next week.  6 pm to 7 pm Beginning and Intermediate - This class is geared for teenagers and adults. Come learn footwork, partner skills and choreography. No experience necessary. 7 pm to 8 pm Intermediate and Advanced - In order to participate in this class, dancers must know how to keep time, closed position calls, dame, enchufla, and outside turn.   • “Hamilton”: Changing the Way We Learn History

    2 pm During this event, teachers and teens will lead an interactive discussion (with music, video and lyrics) about why the School Library Journal calls “Hamilton” a “‘darn near perfect’ teaching tool for history” and how rap, hip hop, spoken word poetry and other popular genres can newly engage young people (and the rest of us) in learning about historical events.   • Roundtable: The Importance of Spain to the Independence of the U.S.
