  • San Ysidro Feast Day Celebration

    10 am to 2 pm Each spring, New Mexico communities celebrate San Ysidro (aka San Isidro or Saint Isidore) the patron saint of farmers, gardeners, and workers. San Ysidro blesses the fields, brings rain and discourages drought, and assures a healthy growing season for local crops such as chile, beans, corn and squash. Traditionally observed on May 15, join us May 13 as we celebrate San Ysidro's Feast Day with local farmers, activities, food, artists and so much more!   • ¡Salud y Sabor!: Pueblos indígenas en América Latina

    5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Salud y Sabor, a partnership between the Agri-cultura Network, Street Food Institute, and the NHCC, is a free evening of food, art, and entertainment aimed at providing families with an opportunity to connect around nutrition, cooking, healthy lifestyles, and culture. Once a month, community members gather for cooking demonstrations using fresh, locally grown ingredients, as well as fun art activities for kids and adults, health screenings, and live entertainment.   • La Canoa: New Mexicans and the Battle of Bataan

    2 pm Join Margaret Garcia for a presentation and excerpts from her book Tell Me Another War Story, chronicling the history of the New Mexico National Guard 200th Coast Artillery, their valiant stand on Bataan in the Philippines, and their reluctant surrender on April 9th 1942, followed by the infamous Bataan Death March and status as POWs.  She will also talk about her father, Evans Garcia’s experiences growing up in southern New Mexico, in the battle and  prison camp, and how he and his “buddies” stayed together (more...)

    6 pm – 7 pm Beginning and Intermediate - This class is geared for teenagers and adults. Come learn footwork, partner skills and choreography. No experience necessary. 7 pm – 8 pm Intermediate and Advanced - In order to participate in this class, dancers must know how to keep time, closed position calls, dame, enchufla, and outside turn.   • Spanish Wine Tasting: By Instituto Cervantes

    6 pm to 8:30 pm Instituto Cervantes Albuquerque, in partnership with the National Hispanic Cultural Center and Farm & Table, is hosting a wine tasting seminar at both locations. Helio San Miguel, a Spanish professional from Madrid who works as New York’s correspondent for Club de Gourmets (Spain´s leading wine and food magazine) is the presenter. This event represents our love for gourmet Spanish products and desire to spread the word about them.
