  • Awards Ceremony: Cervantes Drawing Contest for Students

    3 pm to 4 pm Instituto Cervantes, the National Hispanic Cultural Center, and the Education Office-Embassy of Spain present the awards for a student drawing contest to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes, author of Don Quixote. Students in three age categories, ages 6-8, 9-11, and 12-15 were invited to submit original drawings depicting any subject matter relating to either Don Quixote or Miguel de Cervantes.   • Cervantes & Don Quixote Exhibition Opening

    2 pm to 5 pm Instituto Cervantes presents an exhibition in four parts, paying homage to Miguel de Cervantes, the famous author of Don Quixote de la Mancha, and commemorating the 400th anniversary of his death. The first part, “Quijotes del celuloide,” displays posters from various movies made about Don Quixote over the years.     Join poet and author Margaret Randall on Dec. 3 for a presentation, reading and book signing of ONLY THE ROAD/SOLO EL CAMINO: Eight Decades of Cuban Poetry. This book, featuring the work of more than 50 poets born between 1902 and 1981, paints a full and dynamic picture of modern Cuban life and poetry, highlighting unique features and idiosyncrasies; changes across generations; and the ebbs and flows between repression and freedom following the 1959 Revolution. It is the most complete bilingual anthology of Cuban poetry available to an English readership.
