    2:00 pm A notable educator and civil rights advocate, Mari-Luci Jaramillo is best known for her accomplishments as U.S. Ambassador to Honduras in the 1970s. From humble beginnings in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Mari-Luci went on to a long career that included numerous positions at the University of New Mexico, and serving as the U.S. Department of State, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Inter-American Affairs under President Carter, and as the U.S. Department of Defense, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Latin America under President Clinton.   • Mundos de Mestizaje

    12 pm to 5 pm A Vision of History through Fresco… Mundos de Mestizaje by Frederico Vigil is a mural housed in the Torreón on the campus of the National Hispanic Cultural Center. This monumental fresco depicts thousands of years of Hispanic history highlighting diverse cultural connections between people and places from the Iberian Peninsula to the Americas. The 4,000 square foot painting is one of the largest frescos in North America. The digitized imagery of the painting ensures that this culturally significant work can be a (more...)

No experience is necessary to participate in this class. 7:15 pm to 8:15 pm—Advanced Class In order to participate in this class, dancers must come to at least one 6 pm class and be familiar with the vocabulary and movement introduced in these classes.   • Who We Are, Together: NM Families Project Presentation for Lopez, Fraga, Liomas and Gomez

    2-4 pm This project engaged 2-3 generations of seven NM families in testing their DNA and researching their family lineage with the help of the NHCC and experts in the field. For seven Sundays these families will present what they learned about who they are, where they are, where they came from, and from whom they descend, followed by dialogue.
