    10 am Casa Flamenca and the NHCC present a school day event for Jesús Muñoz Flamenco in Red Note--original music and works by a cast of international dancers and musicians that explores dynamic, visionary movements in dance, music, and visual art inspired by cante flamenco. Red Note will take you on a journey through southern Spain--where soul meets dance--and through the evolution of flamenco's dance and music. This is a free event with registration.   • Film: Joan Baez 75th Birthday Celebration

    7 pm Folk icon Joan Baez celebrated her 75th birthday in 2016, honoring her legendary 50-plus years in music with a career-spanning live performance at New York’s historic Beacon Theatre. Baez performed with fellow artists and friends including David Bromberg, David Crosby, Damien Rice, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Emmylou Harris, Jackson Browne, Mavis Staples, Indigo Girls, Richard Thompson, Judy Collins, Nano Stern, and Paul Simon.     8 pm Casa Flamenca and the NHCC present Jesús Muñoz Flamenco in Red Note—borrowed from the tastefully symbolic "Blue Note Jazz Club" and exploring dynamic, visionary movements in dance, music, and visual art inspired by cante flamenco. Like jazz, flamenco has its roots in raw, intimate improvisation upon standard structures; it improvises through interpretations of the structures of cante jondo, or deep song.   • ¡Vamos al Museo! With Artist Rachel Muldez

    10:30 am to 12:00 pm On the first Saturday morning of every month, join us for this fun and engaging artist-led family program. During the March event, families (limited to 25 participants) will get a 30-minute museum tour focused on the NHCC Art Museum’s current exhibit Fantasía Fantástica: Imaginative Spaces and Other-Worldly Collage led by artist Rachel Muldez, whose work you will see in the exhibit. Following the tour, the whole family can create their own artwork with Rachel's help in the Pete V.     2 pm to 4 pm Anita Rodriguez is a New Mexican artist and writer.  Her father’s side goes back ten generations in her beloved Taos valley, and her mother is a painter who came to Taos from Austin, Texas.  Anita’s training as an artist began in childhood from her mother and extended to her formal training at the Colorado College.     2 pm to 4 pm Join us for the opening reception of ¡Aquí Estamos: The Heart of Arte! which celebrates the NHCC Art Museum’s growing permanent collection with a revitalized vibe and a brand new selection of works. This exhibition was a collaborative project as the entire NHCC Visual Arts staff and interns combed through the collection and worked together to decide which pieces should welcome in 2017.
