¡Baile! Rueda de Casino (Cuban Salsa) Dance Class

6 pm – 7 pm Beginning and Intermediate - This class is geared for teenagers and adults. Come learn footwork, partner skills and choreography. No experience necessary. 7 pm – 8 pm Intermediate and Advanced - In order to participate in this class, dancers must know how to keep time, closed position calls, dame, enchufla, and outside turn. Summer Institute Performances: The Manoa Project

Thursday—8 pm Friday—8 pm The NHCC’s Summer Institutes—Circo Latino, the Manoa Project, and Voces—join the Manoa Project Teen Ensemble for a stirring performance of a fully produced original show written and created by a group of theatre students who have trained and worked together over four weeks. The performance, inspired by themes of community, agriculture, farming, and our relationship with nature, will be based on the NHCC Art Museum’s exhibit Outstanding in His Field: San Ysidro—Patron Saint of Farmers. $10 w/ $2 discount for students

10:30 am to 12 pm The National Hispanic Cultural Center is pleased to offer free children’s programming during the summer. During June, July, and the first Saturday in August, families will be able to come to the Center on Saturday mornings for hands-on art activities, bilingual sing-alongs, outdoor activities in the Bosque and to explore the science of cooking on a rotating basis. Domingos en Arte: Los Texmaniacs & Mariachi Flor de Toloache

7 pm (doors open at 6:30 pm) Grammy-winning Los TexManiacs, a conjunto band created by Albuquerque’s Max Baca in 1997, is joined by Grammy-nominated Mariachi Flor de Toloache, from New York. Los TexManiacs incorporates elements from genres including rock & roll and jazz, while still honoring the roots of Tejano conjunto; their album Borders y Bailes won the 2010 Grammy Award for Tejano Album of the Year. Film: The Sea Inside/Mar Adentro

7 pm The Sea Inside is based on the life story of Ramón Sampedro, a Spanish ship mechanic and part-time poet who was left quadriplegic and bedridden at the age of 26 following a diving accident. Sampedro fought a 30-year campaign for the legal right to end his life with dignity; despite his wish to die, he was able to inspire those who were close to him to live life to the fullest.
