Visual Arts Museum: First Sunday Free Admission

10 am to 4 pm The first Sunday of every month the NHCC Art Museum is free to all New Mexico residents. Visit exhibitions such as: Aquí Estamos: New Selections from the Permanent Collection, Southwest of Eden: The Art of Adam and Eve, and Mira Mira on the Wall: Reflecting on 20 Years of NHCC Exhibitions. Film: Videocreación en Galicia, Lume

12 pm MST Available for 48 hours Instituto Cervantes Vimeo Channel HERE Lume (Fire) is one of the most recent works by Alberte Pagán, a specialist in experimental cinema, and part of Pagán’s “Superficies” (“Surfaces”) series, in which the director plays with juxtaposing still photographs of natural elements with the movement of his story. In Lume, an intense, reddish chromatic palette, reminiscent of fire, emphasizes the rage shown in the audiovisual images, projected on a photograph of roots. 11 am (MST) The National Hispanic Cultural Center is offering a guided tour of the Mundos de Mestizaje fresco by Frederico Vigil twice a week, Thursdays and Fridays at 11 am. Located in the Torreón on the NHCC Campus, Mundos de Mestizaje depicts thousands of years of Hispanic culture, history, and identity. Admission for the tour is $2 and tickets are available for advance purchase below. Tickets can also be purchased in the New Mexico Mutual Welcome Center, depending on availability. Colcha Community Stitch-Along

1 pm (MST) Live via Zoom Our Virtual Colcha Community Workshop is open to all levels of experience in an informal setting, wherever they may reside. This workshop is instructed by Annette Gutierrez-Turk. Annette has taught this art form to groups internationally and at the NHCC for many years. She is also an award winning artist, most recently recognized in 2019 at Santa Fe Spanish Market.
